The importance of communication in healthy relationships
In this week’s podcast, we talk about communication and why it’s important to use in all of your relationships in your life, including with your spouses, family, co-workers, etc.. First, we mention our stance on communication and the benefits that it brings in our relationship. We introduce some of the communication issues we are currently dealing with and also some positive traits that tend to help our relationship, like having very similar personalities, likes, and dislikes. We address that it’s important to listen to others’ words and viewpoints and avoid speech writing in your head in order to just get your point across. We also mentioned why we might have picked up some of the negative communication skills we have today and what we can do to improve it from this day forward. One example of this is to put yourself in the other’s shoes and switch sides to try to imagine how you would feel if you were on the other end.
