This weekend i didn’t buy any protein or cereal bars from the store so I needed to make something quickly that I could snack on for the work week. I decided to make another “energy ball” recipe because the last recipe I tried turned out great (see turmeric lemon energy balls recipe)! Here is the recipe:

  • Oats
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • about 10 dates (ground up)
  • almond butter
  • dark chocolate chips
  • honey
  • cinnamon
  • ground flax seeds
  • Cinnamon can be used in so many recipes and give it the kick you need. This is the herb everyone should have in their diet! It helps lower blood sugar levels, can lower bad cholesterol and has anti fungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. Most of these benefits come from a substance naturally present in cinnamon called “cinnamaldehyde”. There are many ways to incorporate cinnamon into the diet. It can be placed in your tea, added into your recipes or taken in capsule form. Here is how I made the banana oat energy bites:
  • First, I mashed 3 ripe bananas up in a bowl.

Then, I chopped the dates up in my food processor.

Then, I added all of the ingredients together and stirred them until they were evenly blended.

I formed balls out of the mixture and placed them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

  • Lastly, I placed them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to harden.

The banana oat energy bites were delicious and the perfect little snack to take with you to work. They had the right amount of banana and cinnamon flavor and the other flavors really meshed well together! I love making these energy bites because you can play around with the ingredients and flavors!
